Happy New Year!
I hope you’ve had a chance to relax over the last few weeks and get ready for the exciting year ahead.
At the beginning of each year I enjoy thinking about what happened over the past year, while attempting to predict what will happen in the upcoming year.
For me, 2017 was a great year both personally and professionally.
In September I got married to my husband Matt. We are so grateful for our friends and family who were able to join us in the celebration.
While on a professional level we hit a big milestone in spreading our Medicare message across the country with over one thousand Facebook followers and being asked by national media channels to be Medicare contributors.
Then, to top off an already eventful year, 2017 ended with tax reform and mentions of possible Medicare changes.
We have no idea what those changes may be, but we are following it closely and will let you know when there’s more clarity on possible changes.
As I go through the history of Medicare, there have been significant changes over the years.
In 1965, President Johnson signed a bill that created the path to Medicare.
In 1972, President Nixon signed into law the first major change to Medicare. The legislation expanded coverage to include individuals under the age of 65 with long-term disabilities and individuals with end-stage renal disease
In 1982, a bill was passed that brought Supplement plans under federal oversight.
In 1988, Congress passed the Medicare Catastrophic Coverage Act, adding a true limit to the Medicare’s total out-of-pocket expenses for Part A and Part B, along with a limited prescription drug benefit
The Medicare Prescription Drug Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 caused many changes including the creation of what is now known as Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Part D
It has been 15 years since we have seen Medicare changes, so maybe something it due?!
Do you have any ideas on what Medicare changes could happen in 2018?

There are some changes I would like to see to eliminate the games being played that hurt Medicare beneficiaries.
I know 2018 will be an exciting year and we look forward to providing you independent Medicare advice so you can make the best decision and get the most from Medicare.
Here’s to a great 2018!
