Important Medicare Document, please share!

If you are enrolled in a Part D or Medicare Advantage plan you should have received an important Medicare document in the mail.

Every year, plans are required to send an Annual Notice of Change to people enrolled in their plan by September 30th.

Please look very closely at this document so you aren’t surprised by costly changes in the upcoming year.

The Annual Notice of Change is usually mailed with the plan’s Evidence of Coverage Notice for the upcoming year. The Evidence of Coverage Notice provides more comprehensive details of the plan’s costs and coverage for the upcoming year.

The most common changes we see for the upcoming year include:

  • Change in premiums, deductible, and copay’s.
  • Change in tiering of your medications.
  • Dropping your medications from the formulary.
  • Adding new medications to the formulary.
  • Pre-approval requirements to get your medications.
  • Limits on how much of your mediation you can receive.
  • Changing of pharmacies and doctors you can see.
  • Different payment dates.

If your plans have any changes, you should look at switching plans during the Annual Enrollment Period that starts October 15th.  Changing plans can save you thousands of dollars.

A recent study by the Journal of American Pharmacists Association showed that patients who have changed plans during the Annual Enrollment Period saved on average $1,166.46.

Again, it is important that everyone looks at these changes. However, it is even more CRITICAL that people on medications, especially expensive medications, look at the changes to ensure they are in the best plan for the new year.

Please share this very important message with your friends.

Anyone enrolled in Medicare can benefit from this information, but is especially important for you share this information with anyone who have frequently impacted health conditions including:
