Shortly after my husband and I were married, we went through the typical steps of newlyweds to start our new life together.
We figured out our money situation and who was going to pay what.
We came up with a holiday schedule with our families. We also took on a relatively large project of redoing my husband’s kitchen.
My husband bought a house about five years before we were married. The house was in a great location, but it needed some serious work given the last remodel had likely occurred in the 80s.
The first project we tackled was remodeling the kitchen.
The kitchen had green linoleum floors and a kitchen faucet that sprayed out of the top, and when the super glue came loose, it would frequently hit you in the face.
As we started the project, we found so many pictures for inspiration. There were so many beautiful cabinets, countertops and light fixtures that we were excited to have in our new kitchen.
Given my husband and I had NO experience in remodeling, despite watching many home remodel shows, we decided to hire an expert to help us through the adventure.
We showed him what we wanted, and he gave us a bid that was MUCH higher than what we expected.
But luckily our kitchen expert sat down with us and showed us some ways to cut costs.
He pointed out that many of the things we picked out were from name brand companies, but there are other companies with just as good of products at a fraction of the price.
He took us through a few things to show us how we can get the same look and quality for a lot less money. For example, he saved us over $5,000 on the countertops!
Since he knew the ins and outs of the industry, he was able to show us insider tips to have our money go a lot farther. These tips would have been nearly impossible for us to find on our own.
After looking back on this experience, I’ve realized that the money our kitchen remodel expert saved us is similar to how our Medicare expertise helps clients make their money go further.
