Here’s a quick coaching move that saved my client $3000 today:
The story:
My client joined our Medicare Coach program seeking advice. Hecompleted his Medicare questionnaire and listed all of his medications. We notified the client that his actoplus Met 15mg-850 mg tab cost $280.96 for a 30 day supply and he may get it for a $35 co-pay if his doctor could verify that other less expensive medications had been tried for 130 days.
We provided the client with a list of alternative medications. Thedoctor changed actoplus and substituted metoprolol and metformin instead which saved about $1300. Then we used our Medicare Suitability Profile analysis and found that Company A showed his lipitor generic atorvastatin 20 mg tab costing $103 with a $60 copay, while Company B showed the cost and the co-pay to be $18. We recommended company B and saved another $500. Then we recommended the high deductible Plan F supplement insurance move that saved another $1200 in premium.
