At the Medicare Coach, we see so many couples coming into Medicare and assuming that both the husband and wife have to be on the exact Medicare plan.

What I can tell is that it’s a big mistake to assume that.

In this blog post, I’m going to walk you through why that’s so important.

For most of our married life, if you’re like me, you and your spouse have been on the same employer’s health insurance plan.

So even if you’ve had different health needs, you would still have to be on the same plan.

That is why many people come into Medicare, assuming that it’s the same thing, but that is not the case.

Medicare is very, very different. Medicare is very much an individual decision, and the plan you choose should be based on you, your doctors, your health conditions, your medications, and things of that nature.

Therefore, if you and your spouse have different health needs that require different doctors and medications, you will be on separate Medicare plans.

With that said, there are certain times where companies offer household discounts, but discounts only make sense when you get the right plan.

About 50 percent of my clients, who are spouses, are not on the same plan. Medicare is very much individual and customized to you.

It’s essential to remember that when you’re making your Medicare decision.
