A majority of our client’s number one concern is making sure they can still see their doctors when they’re on Medicare.

So, if it’s essential that you continue to see your established doctors or have a say in what doctors you can see while on Medicare, then this step is critical for you.

When you’re researching your Medicare options, you first need to start by asking your doctors two questions.

1) What type of Medicare does the doctor accept?

Do they accept only traditional Medicare or Medicare Advantage, or both? If they accept Medicare Advantage, what plans do they accept? This is critical because I can almost guarantee they do not accept all plans.

2) Are there any rules that you need to be aware of to continue to see the doctor once you’re on Medicare?

Be sure you confirm with your doctor that they will continue to see you once you’re on Medicare because sometimes, doctors do have limits on the amount of Medicare patients they will accept.

For example, I had a client who came to me, and his doctor recommended this specific Medicare Insurance Group plan for him to join. So he did, and he was able to see his primary doctor, but he did not realize that his oncologist did not accept that plan.

Unfortunately, it was a mess. My client assumed that it would work for him because his doctor recommended the plan, which was not the case.

Here’s the thing, don’t just ask ONE doctor this question. Instead, ask all of your current doctors and doctors you’d like to see if health issues were to arise.

By taking the time to ask these questions, you could really save yourself headaches and large bills down the road.
