Medigap Supplement Insurance

WHAT IS MEDIGAP?

By January 23, 2010March 9th, 2016No Comments

Medigap is a Supplemental medical insurance policy that pays for some health care costs (GAPS) that Original Medicare doesn’t cover like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles.  Every Medigap policy must follow Federal and State Laws designed to protect you, and it must be clearly identified as “Medicare Supplement Insurance”.

Insurance companies may charge different premiums for exactly the same Medigap coverage.  The plans are labeled as follows:  A, B, C, D, F, G, M, N.  Note:  Plans E, H, I, and J will no longer be available to buy. If you already have or you buy Plan E,H,I or J before June 1, 2010, you can keep the plan.  Contact your plan for more information.

Clients new to Medicare in 2010, will save up to $243 per person, or about $500 per couple when they work with me.  And, the savings could be as much as $2000 in some cases.  Just think, one phone call for an appointment can save big bucks because I have access to the best priced Medicare Supplement plans on the market.  The plans are exactly alike regarding benefits, but plan F (which is one of the best) will range from $112 per month all the way up to $192.50.  If an age 65 year old  couple gets hooked up with the wrong company when they first join Medicare, they could spend as much as $2000 more per year in premiums.  Wow!  Big bucks just went down the drain.  Believe me, this is happening every day due to aggressive marketing tactics by some companies.

Watch out for TV advertisements in prime time which imply that you can choose any doctor with their Medicare Supplement plan.  And, nationally known organization X has their name on the plan. So, call now to enroll.  When you hear deals like this hang on to your wallet, because you might be spending $2000 more unnecessarily for the exact same plan that is available through me.  With my plan, you can use the $2000 savings to take a nice vacation somewhere.

Prior to turning age 65, don’t let your existing group insurance company sign you up for a Supplement policy with the “Assumed Consent” letter which goes something like this.  We have appreciated your business these past 25 years as members of our group medical plan, and now that you are eligible for Medicare, we’ve issued you a Supplement Medicare insurance card.  Just sign here, and your policy will be mailed to you.  This automatic move, could cost you $500 or more per year in premium.  Be wise and open your eyes to other options that will save you premium dollars.

Let me do the shopping for you.  I’ll turn your introduction to Medicare into a “Best Buy” experience.

PS:  Now you know that Medigap is not a medical retainer device to close gaps between your teeth.  Son, don’t forget to put your Medigap retainer in your mouth before you go to sleep.  Thanks Dad!
